I love this idea from newsoap.org. They recycle bottles and fill them with handsoap, cleaning supplies, et. It also got me thinking of a great DIY idea. It would be a fun “green” housewarming gift to design your own cleaning labels and give them to a friends as they move in or move out.

It’s no surprise that my partner and I live in a terribly small converted garage in Seattle. We love it though — it has charm as folks say. But here are some great ideas to inspire from Apartment Therapy’s Small Cool Contest. These folks who have taken small apartments and made them extraordinary.

Brilliant post from Design Boner. . .
“This (real) pic is from a (real) accident in North Hollywood last week. Rumor has it that the curbside couch cushioned the impact, allowing the driver to walk away totally unharmed. This selfless act is just another reason to love abandoned furniture. That dirty and forgotten couch is truly a Good Sofaritan.”

We’ve been composting here in Seattle for almost a year now. It is great. The city garbage will take yard waste and compost it for use in city parks. Since we eat a lot of vegetables, it is a great use of our scraps.
The only problem is the smell and fruit flys on our counter top since we do not empty it everyday. I ended up purchasing this cute compost bin to go under our counter, but they have beautiful ceramic counter top options too.
For other great compost pail options go to Gardener’s Supply.
